Colour Line Feat. Ambalavaner Sivanandan

Original and similar lyrics
Today, the Colour Line/Is the Power Line/Is the Poverty Line Racism and imperialism work in tandem And poverty is their handmaiden Those who are poor and powerless to break out of their poverty Are also those who by and large are non-white, non-western, third world Poverty and powerlessness are interwined in colour, in race Discrimination and exploitation feed into each other today Under global capitalism... We are back to primitive accumulation - plunder on a world scale Only this time, the pillage is accompanied by aid, sustained by expert advice and underpinned by programmes and policies that perpetuate dependency The IMF, The World Bank, Structural Adjustment Programmes General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade - GATT, are just a few of the organisations, schemes, projects which under the guise of developing the third world, plunder it. Trade agreements and commodity price-fixing, patents and intellectual property rights They lock them into paralytic dependency There's no such thing as illegal immigrants, only illegal governments... Black is not just the colour of our skins It's the colour of our politics... There's no such thing as illegal immigrants, only illegal governments... Today, the colour line/is the power line/is the poverty line

If 2day Were 2morrow

David Jones
If today were tomorrow, how would you be? Would you sit and chill and watch it pass or take part in society? Be a fiend on the scene being mean to your queen. Your daily regime; you think that you're Mean Joe. Pullin' stunts for the green. Or would you attempt to be exempt from temptation. My mental illustration equals motivation to energize a generation; to surprise a nation. To proceed, lead and succeed at your chosen vocation. So in this here rhyme of mine from line to line let's take the time to sit back and unwind, clear your mind so you can find that space behind your face. So sublime. Wait till I get to the end before you hit rewind. Now in a world created by you to do as you choose to do. Would you choose to lose feeling used and abused, battered and bruised cravin' that endless snooze. Cause the world owes you something for nothing it would appear. Shedding tears in the ears of your peers about your fears and the hardships of past years. The only doe you know are deers. Man It's hard to hear with a blunt in your mouth while you're sipping on a beer. When you look in the mirror at your face, what fills the space? Is a mask with the task to cover and erase? Or a star shining bright with the light for third eye sight? To envision goals; to shape and to mold, educate a legend to be told? Now let's look at it and see; Die in the street or live like royalty; wealth or poverty; health or HIV A-I-D-S Oh what a mess. Will you pass the test or end up like the rest. A scattered mess. The untouchable ones who thought they were the best. Or are you blessed with the power to devour; build a tower in an hour, turn sweet from sour. I'm tellin' you the time is now or; Never say never when the time passes so does the weather; to shine and shower on your every endeavour. So in order to gain it most remain in your brain to refrain from being plain. Train and sustain your plans to attain and keep your head up through the pain and the rain. Do not assume that you're insane because your aim ain't the same as the man spittin' game about the prize and bulging pockets on his thighs. Do you idolize? Or are you wise to realize: you've got one life as far as I know. So do you row with the flow and go where it ends? Or spend time to ascend to be great ladies and men. Now close your eyes and open the third one to see. If today where tomorrow; How would you be?

Jesus Was A Terrorist

DEAD KENNEDYS
Jesus was a terrorist Enemy of the state That's what the Romans labeled him So he was put to death He died for his beliefs What's changed today? Today bible-thumping cannibals Reap money from his name Buy cable networks & power With old ladies' checks If Jesus saw Pat Robertson What do you think he'd say? Tax free the re-write our laws And sick 'em on you Women don't control their bodies TV preachers do Censor everything from bathing suits To science books From the schoolroom to the bedroom They want our thoughts - or else They treat us like the Romans Used to treat the Christians Even some church-going folks are scared. Modern catacombs of fear Built with money, power, and threats Rock 'n Roll is labeled porn Sell a record, you're under arrest Instead of fighting AIDS They try to stop us having sex They brag that they won't quit Till they take dominion over our lives Is freedom of speech such a terrorist act Is spiritual peace such a satanic threat Believe what you want But we'll fight to keep Our heads from being cemented in your sand

When I Was Your Age

WEIRD AL YANKOVIC "Off The Deep End"
Let me tell you, sonny. Let me set you straight You kids today ain't never had it rough Always had everything handed to you on a silver plate You lazy brats think nothing's good enough Well, nobody ever drove me to school when it was ninety degrees below We had to walk butt naked through forty miles of snow Worked in the coal mine twenty two hours a day for just half a cent Had to sell my internal organs just to pay the rent When I was your age. When I was your age When I was your age. When I was your age Let me tell you something, you whiny little snot There's something wrong with all you kids today You just don't appreciate all the things you've got We were hungry, and broke and miserable And we liked it fine that way There were seventy-three of us living in a cardboard box All I got for Christmas was a lousy bag of rocks Every night for dinner we had a big chunk of dirt If we were really good we didn't get dessert When I was your age. When I was your age When I was your age. When I was your age Didn't have no telephone didn't have no FAX machine All we had was a couple of cans and a crummy piece of string Didn't have no swimming pool when I was just a lad Our neighbor's septic tank was the closest thing we had Didn't have no dental floss had to use old rusty nails Didn't have Nintendo, we just poured salt on snails Didn't have no water bed, had to sleep on broken glass Didn't have no lawnmower, we used our teeth to cut the grass What's the matter now, sonny, you say you don't believe this junk? You think my story's wearin' kinda thin? I tell you one thing, I never was such a disrespectful punk Back in my time, we had a thing called discipline Dad would whoop us every night till a quarter after twelve Then he'd get too tired and he'd make us whoop ourselves Then he'd chop me into pieces and play frisbee with my brain And let me tell ya, Junior, you never heard me complain When I was your age. When I was your age When I was your age. When I was your age
